THE SPECIAL CONSENSUS - FRIDAY 12TH JANUARY

The Special Consensus is a four person acoustic bluegrass band that began performing in the midwest of America in the spring of 1975. Their repertoire features original compositions by band members and professional songwriters (such as "ten mile tennesse" and "margarita breakdown").  They also include Traditional Bluegrass Standards (songs by Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, Jim and Jesse McReynolds etc). Bluegrass at its best.

FREDDIE WHITE - SATURDAY 20TH JANUARY

Born in Cobh, County Cork, into a musical family, FREDDIE WHITE was playing professionally by the age of seventeen. In 1974, he was a founding member of Scullion, together with Philip King and Sonny Condell. Later he formed The Fake, regarded as one of the seminal Irish bands of the late ‘70’s. Next came The Freddie White Band in 1978. Down through the years Freddie White has retained his iconic status as one of Irelands most individual artists. His latest CD Four Days In May confirms his continued ability to deliver recordings of the highest quality.

MUMMERS BALL - SATURDAY 27TH JANUARY

The Annual Mummers Ball will take place on Saturday 27th January. Enjoy a night of live traditional music. Food will be served. Booking Essential.  All proceeds in aid of The Gary Kelly Foundation.

CHIARA BROWNE & FRIENDS - THURSDAY 1st FEBRUARY

The Seamus Ennis Centre is proud to announce the first in a series of Thursday night performances which showcase emerging artists from all genres of the Irish music scene.  "Browne's voice would melt the hardest of hearts... has star quality in spades... she's a formidable talent" - Hotpress. Signed to Warner Chapel Music at the tender age of 18, Australian singer-songwriter Chiara Browne has resided in Ireland since 2000 and has become a familiar face on the Dublin music scene through her Tuesday night residency in Whelans.  highly recommended.

PIERRE BENSUSAN - SATURDAY 10TH MARCH

We are delighted to welcome Composer-Guitarist Pierre Bensusan to the Seamus Ennis Cultural Centre. He's a French-Algerian, but neither of those countries satisfactorily explains his music, which comes from everywhere. It's got strong elements of Jazz, both French and Mediterranean, and Irish Folk Music.  There are also elements of Gypsy, French Accordian Music and of Blues and Baroque.  Highly Recommended.

SLIABH NOTES - FRIDAY 16TH MARCH

Sliabh Notes are comprised of D Murphy on Accordion, Matt Cranitch on Fiddle and Tommy O'Sullivan on Vocals & Guitar.  They are from the Southwest of Ireland and formed in 1995. They have released three albums and have established an enviable reputation for their High-Quality Traditional Music.

PO'GIRL - SUNDAY 18TH MARCH

In a brief two years this group of hard-travelling musical iconoclasts has released two albums to critical acclaim. These  four ladies all sing, write and perform on a stunning array of instruments including Banjo, Clarinet, Slide Guitar, Piano, Accordian, Wash-Tub Bass, Harmonica, Penny-Whistle, Mandolin, Violin and much more.  Take the bellow of the Blues, the wail of a Gypsy Fiddle, Punk-Rock Street Poetry, a Cajun Love Song and mix it all up and add some R & B and you have Po'Girl.
