Joining our fiddler host, Tara Connaghan, in January are Leitrim brothers Tom and Andy Morrow (fiddles) and Triona Flavin (flute).

Tom Morrow (fiddle) is the eldest of the musical Morrow family. He has been a member of the band Dervish since 1998 and tours around the globe with them. He began playing music at an early age with Tommy Maguire, a native of Glenfarne, Co. Leitrim. He has played extensively with a wide range of musicians around Leitrim and Cavan including the Cornafean Group and Antoin McGabhann and has won numerous awards including the All Ireland senior fiddle championship.

Andy Morrow (fiddle) is the youngest of the family and started playing at the age of five, playing regularly with the Cornafean group. He has won numerous all-Ireland awards and also toured widely throughout Europe and the USA, appearing at such festivals as the Viljandi Folk Fest and the Milwaukee Irish Fest. For the last few years Andy has been travelling and living in Central America and has recently returned home.

Triona Flavin of Ballyhahill in west Limerick is a flute player whose traditional style has earned well-deserved plaudits over the years. She was a regular performer with Craobh an Ghleanna group and has won honours at All-Ireland senior level. She now lives in Dublin with her husband, Tom Morrow and their daughter Éabha.

Tara Connaghan is a fiddle player from Glenties, Co. Donegal. She spent 10 years living and playing in Ennis, Co. Clare where she worked as the Traditional Arts Specialist in Clare Co. Co. before moving to Carlow town in 2009 having taken up the position of Festival Director at Éigse Carlow Arts Festival. Last year she presented and performed on TG4’s Geantraí which was filmed in Carlow and featured a wealth of the south east’s best musicians.
